Join ENG 503: Creative Writing for Older Adults with Lake County Poet Laureate Emerita Georgina Marie Guardado for the Fall 2026 semester at Mendocino College in Ukiah.
Wednesdays 1:30 PM - 4:35 PM8/17/2026 - 12/11/2026Credit-free class for $12/semester
This course will introduce adults to a variety of creative writing skills, providing an opportunity to recall, organize, and share life experiences through written expression. Students will have the opportunity to sharpen both creative writing and computer skills, as well as interact with a supportive community of fellow writers. All ages and genres welcome!

Drum Class 5:45-7pm then followed by Dance Class 7-8:30pm
~We study the same rhythm in both classes to learn it both with the drum and then the dance and study it for a full month to have the opportunity to ingrain.
~Come to drum class and follow it by dancing the same rhythm or stay and drum for the dance class. All people, all levels, all bodies are welcome

Mendocino Dance Project is offering free weekly dance classes for people with Parkinson's, their family members, and caregivers. Classes offer healthy and fun ways to build strength, coordination, balance, and stability all while using creativity and imagery to inspire movement. This program is made possible in part by The Community Foundation of Mendocino County’s 2025 Fund for Healthy and Inclusive Communities Grant.

The Ukiah Branch Library invites families and folks of all ages to visit our reading station at the Ukiah Farmers Market every Saturday, May through October. This longstanding, volunteer-run program provides an hour of age-appropriate read-alouds to market goers from 10 – 11 a.m., weather permitting. We hope to see you there.
Please note that rain and/or temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit will cancel Saturday’s Farmers Market Reading Time. New Ballet Classes for teens and adults starting in August.
Noyo Dance Company will now offer a variety ballet classes every Saturday for all levels.
Absolute beginner classes offered from 10-11am and 12:30-1:30pm. This class is for anyone who wants to try ballet for the first time or get back into it. The focus is on gaining strength, mobility, and coordination and applying it to the basic foundations of ballet. All ability levels are encouraged, and everyone gets to participate at their own pace. Suggested donation $15.
All levels ballet class from 11am-12:30pm is a whole hour and a half class that challenges the mind and body through rigorous barre and center exercises. Whether your are a newer or experienced dancer, there is so much to learn and benefit from this class. Suggested donation $20.
Everyone is welcome! No one turned away for lack of funds! Come dance and feel good :)
Live band, with caller to teach steps used in simple country dances. Come before 7:30 to get signed in. Instruction begins promptly at 7:30. Wear comfortable clothes and smooth-soled shoes. Friendly folks, no partner necessary, everybody dances with everybody. Soooo much fun!!
