The Sanhedrin Chapter of the California Native Plant Society invites you to a winter walk in Brooktrails, led by forester, Lynn Webb. This will be a relaxed walk though second growth redwood forest to look for the first wildflower of the season, Scoliopus bigelovii, commonly called slink-pod or fetid adder's tongue. We will also find the uncommon conifers California yew and California nutmeg. We can look at the recent stream restoration work in Willits Creek. The popular Parcourse/Nutmeg Trail is a 1.6 mile loop. It’s gentle with a few winter muddy patches. The parking lot is off Birch Street. Heavy rain will cancel.

The Sanhedrin Chapter of the California Native Plant Society is hosting a late winter wildflower walk at Low Gap Park in Ukiah from 10:00 to noon on Saturday, February 28th. We should find early bloomers emerging and some actually flowering. We’ll meet at the tables near the tennis courts at 10:00. Wear good hiking shoes and dress for the weather, although the hike will be cancelled if it’s raining.

Join your guide, Genevieve, on a 2-hour walking tour of Mendocino Stone Ranch, the Mendocino Coast's hidden stone sanctuary. The tour will take place on Fish Rock Rd, in Gualala on Sunday, Nov 2nd from 12pm-2pm, weather permitting. Learn about the rich history of Mendocino Stone Ranch, take in our 30+ larger-than-life stone masonry art installations, including the Fish Rock Watchtower, learn about the artists behind the works, and the man who brought it all to life. $15-20 suggested donation, per person. Join CA State Parks staff and docents to spot gray whales from the high bluffs of the Mendocino Headlands as they migrate north to their arctic feeding grounds. We’ll scout for spouts at Shipping Point; about a 1/4 mile past Portuguese Beach at the west end of Main Street. Drop in anytime between 11 AM-2 PM! This program will be cancelled for rain, severe weather, or park closure.

Join a CA State Park Interpreter for a 0.75-mile hike along the Spring Ranch trail to look for migrating gray whales! The guided portion of the hike will end at the coast, and visitors should plan to enjoy the 0.75-mile return hike at their own pace. The trail includes uneven surfaces and is not stroller or wheelchair friendly. This program will be cancelled for rain, severe weather, or park closure.
