Would you like to make an immediate improvement to the environment and have fun doing it? Does the sight of litter in our creeks make you want to take action? Be part of the solution! Come join the annual Ukiah Valley Russian River Cleanup, held on Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 20, from 8:30 AM to Noon. To join the cleanup, pre-register through MCRCD’s website, Facebook page, or directly at https://tinyurl.com/RRCleanup25 by September 15th. Volunteers will gather for a safety talk at Low Gap Park and to divide into teams. Come early at 8:30 to sign in and get a cup of coffee donated by Black Oak Coffee Roasters. Join us for this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day (also be the world’s largest scavenger hunt)! Head out to yourfavorite shoreline on Saturday, September 20 to help clean up and you just might come across aspecial item of “trash” that you can redeem for a valuable prize!

Hey there: Are you a wanna- be gardener, but have no yard, or place to cultivate a garden/vegi garden ,or exercise that passion? Well look no further, then to our very own Community Garden here in" Happy Willits," located next to the Recreation Grove; (adjacent to the Social Service Dept.) A Non Profit Project. With once a year fee (like renting a plot) grow whatever you want, but must commit for a year, no abandoning it. Serious gardeners welcomed. There's limited spaces-sign ups begin in March. The Ukiah Branch Library invites families and folks of all ages to visit our reading station at the Ukiah Farmer’s Market every Saturday May through October in 2025! This longstanding, volunteer-run program provides an hour of age-appropriate read-alouds to market goers from 10 – 11 a.m., weather permitting. We hope to see you there!
Please note that rain and/or temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit will cancel that Saturday’s Farmer’s Market Reading Time.

"The Art of Wonder" highlights work by 15 Mendocino County artists that create a sense of wonder, emanating from the subject matter, the style, or both. Ranging through various mediums and featuring a vast catalogue of creatures, "The Art of Wonder" playfully and reverently pushes the boundaries of their artwork.
We are pleased to host a show of wonderful new work by talented artists Sally Cataldo and Francine Hurd here at Highlight Gallery in Mendocino! Sally will be showing her new, exciting, mixed media abstract paintings and her mother, Francine, is a pastel artist and paints lovely, serene landscapes. The show will run from September 5th through September 30th. There will also be a chance to meet them in person between 4pm and 7pm on September 13th during Mendocino's monthly Second Saturday Art Walk event. We hope you can find a little time to stop in and feast your eyes on their beautiful art!
In September Partners Gallery presents a retrospective of work by Joan Burleigh. Burleigh has been living and making art on the Mendocino coast for more than 50 years. She has worked mainly with acrylic on paper. She exhibited with Partners Gallery for a number of years. Now, the gallery is honoring her with a retrospective show of selected works from her lengthy career. Of her work she says: “I paint to reach the place within me that is free of controls and boundaries; where, on a fortunate day, my spirit can soar!”
The show opens September 11 and continues through October 6.There is a Second Saturday Meet the Artist September 13, 5-7pm.
