Noyo Harbor Gets A Makeover

South Noyo Harbor.

February 15, 2019 — The Noyo Harbor has just undergone a makeover, with lots of work on the south side parking lot, a new bathroom, a boat ramp facility, and other infrastructure improvements. KZYX went to a meeting of the Noyo Harbor District at Fort Bragg Town Hall this week, to find out what’s already been done, and what’s next.

Planning for the multi-faceted project started back in 2014. DBW, or the State Parks Division of Boats and Waterways, initially provided a $300,000 grant for the planning and engineering phases, and an additional $600,000 for actual building. The final construction costs came out to about $1.4 million, which was paid for by further DBW allocations and $200,000 that the District was able to raise.

Tune in for more details from two of the people who were directly involved in planning the project. We’ll hear about the years-long process of working with six different agencies, and about construction workers in dive suits, building the boat ramp underwater in the middle of the night to meet a strict deadline.
