Mendocino Dance Project is offering free weekly dance classes for people with Parkinson's, their family members, and caregivers. Classes offer healthy and fun ways to build strength, coordination, balance, and stability all while using creativity and imagery to inspire movement. This program is made possible in part by The Community Foundation of Mendocino County’s 2025 Fund for Healthy and Inclusive Communities Grant.

Join Janie Notmeyer of Janie's Dahlias and learn to grow dazzling dahlias. This workshop will teach you the basics of growing dahlias just before it is time to put your tubers in the dirt. Learn how to prepare the soil, where to plant, and how to plant dahlias. You’ll get your hands dirty potting up a tuber to take home and practice all you have learned. Janie will also teach you the best methods for staking, fertilizing, watering, pinching, deadheading, and a bit about keeping your plants healthy.

Janie has been growing dahlias for more than 35 years, both inland and on the coast. Last year alone, she cared for 525 plants featuring around 65 varieties.

Drop into the monthly Knit & Crochet group at the Ukiah Branch Library to work on new or ongoing projects in a supportive atmosphere with other fiber artists! Led by Friends of the Library volunteer Meri Castillo, this informal gathering meets on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 7 p.m. beginning on February 8, 2024.

CODE CLUB
At the Ukiah Branch Library
Second Fridays at 3:30 - 4:30 PM

The Ukiah Branch Library invites youth ages six to 12 to meet on the second Friday of each month at 3:30 p.m. for an hour of coding! Join us for a quick tutorial and fun activity using various coding educational tools such as Scratch, Blockly, and Code.org. Attendance is not required at all events, but please keep in mind that tutorials may increase in difficulty as we go.

Every Third Wednesday from 3-5 PM

Do you want a chill place to hang out after school with snacks and the option to participate in a variety of activities? Teen Play Time brings you monthly programs every Wednesday in the Ukiah Branch Library Teen Room. Drop in any time between 3 – 5 p.m. for anime, crafts, table-top gaming, and STEM ventures!

+First Wednesday of the Month: Anime Asylum – Watch some anime and try out Japanese snacks.
+Second Wednesday of the Month: Craft Corner – Create and play with the craft of the month.
+Third Wednesday of the Month: Tabletop Time – Play board games and participate in micro-RPG sessions.
+Fourth Wednesday of the Month: Tech Gremlins – Come experiment with us, take apart electronics, build STEM projects and otherwise explore various STEM activities.

MAKERSPACE: FELTED LANDSCAPES
A Hands-On Program
Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3 PM (new date)

Verdant meadows, fluffy clouds, extravagant wildflowers – come experience the Zen of nature with zero hiking required. On Friday, April 17th at 3 p.m. the Ukiah Branch Library is pleased to introduce you to the therapeutic process of transforming downy wool fibers into miniature scenes of natural beauty with the cozy art of needle-felted landscapes. No experience is required – just curiosity, trust in the wool, and the willingness to stab it repeatedly to transform it into rolling hills or snow-laden mountains. Bring in a favorite landscape photo or find one on-line or in books at the Ukiah Branch Library. All other materials will be provided!
