Celebrate Science and Nature

Celebrate Science and Nature

The UC Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) invites you to celebrate science and nature with us at our spectacular site.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of HREC through interactive field activities led by prominent scientists in their respective fields. Enjoy lunch, followed by our annual auction.

Your attendance and support directly benefit Hopland Scholars, nurturing curious minds from youth to early career researchers, fostering a lifelong commitment to discovery and research of our natural world.

Field experiences will be offered from 10am-12pm, before the lunch, you can also just join the lunch without the field experiences. Experiences include:

Museum tour - visit the specimens in our museum collection.
Oak woodlands regeneration - help to protect young oaks with our volunteer team Quercus Collaborative.
Thamnoyo pond restoration project - Explore this beautiful natural pond and learn about our efforts to provide a safe site for reintroduction of native California frogs.
Sheep and cattle - Visit the sheep barn and learn how multi species grazing provides opportunities for new studies.
California Naturalist hike - Take a hike through the beautiful oak woodlands with our California Naturalist alumni.
Hands on science - Meet the GrizzlyCorps Fellows who will introduce you to our programs for schools including birding, fire science and lambing time.
Prescribed and wildfire - How is HREC supporting fire research.
