Kate Black and Anita Blu are The Harmony Keepers, a popular duo based in Mendocino County. Anita and Kate are becoming known for their polished and precisely matched beautiful vocal harmonies, accompanied by guitar and keyboard, and some songs with dulcimer or ukulele. Both Kate and Anita have performed for years in many different venues: solo, trios, bands and choirs, including classical, jazz, pop, and R&B.
They initially teamed up about 4 years ago to do some jazz collaboration, but turned their attention during the pandemic to the recording studio. They recorded a tribute to the music of Joni Mitchell (which has been recognized by the official Joni Mitchell website), as well as a recording of '70s era songwriters, including Phoebe Snow, Leonard Cohen, Laura Nyro, and Carole King.
