June 30, 2025 - Summer is here, and wildfire danger is high in Mendocino County. CAL FIRE says conditions are unusually dry right now. Even though some controlled burns have taken place (like near Lake Mendocino) to clear out brush, officials say it's crucial for everyone to be ready. Starting today, the outdoor burning ban is now in full effect across the county. No outdoor fires!
As the July 4th holiday approaches, please note All fireworks are illegal in Mendocino County, California, including "Safe & Sane" fireworks. This includes possessing, transporting, using, storing, keeping, shooting, discharging, setting off, igniting, manufacturing, selling, or giving away fireworks. The only exception is for public displays of fireworks with a permit.
The Mendocino County Office of Emergency Services, CAL FIRE, and local law enforcement and fire agencies work together to enforce this zero-tolerance policy. They seize illegal fireworks and prosecute those found in possession of them.
Be Prepared for not if a fire happens, but when.
