A report by KZYX Director of Operations Andre de Channes
- Transmitter failure in Ft Bragg. Andre went to Bald Hill and diagnosed the issue with the transmitter failure. The next day a temporary backup transmitter was secured and installed.
- Philo Studio Wheatstone Blade total failure. This is the device that all the audio from all sources (NPR, satellite feed, all local studios including Philo) goes through. Andre rewired the DAD automation system to play out locally while troubleshooting, obtained the schematic from the manufacturer and was able to repair the unit.
- Last minute absence - A weekend host was unable to come in for their designated time slot. Staff did not get notification in time to re-program the show on the weekend.
- Problems with the Air-PC in Philo. The USB audio interface for the Air-PC was somehow turned off.
- Issue on Friday night during the storm with the FT. Bragg Studio Tie-Line not connecting due to Internet issues.
A silence sensor is being ordered, which, when it senses dead-air, will automatically switch to a different pre-programmed stream. It will also switch back to the main programming channel when it senses that audio is back on that channel.
