Continuing KZYX’s local election coverage, here are excerpts of the Fort Bragg City Council Candidates forum hosted by the League of Women Voters in Fort Bragg on October 14th. To view the entire forum, you can go to the videos section of the Facebook Page for the City of Fort Bragg California

There are 9 candidates running for three open four year seats on the Fort Bragg City Council: Incumbents Tess Albin Smith and Marcia Rafanan; with seven challengers: Richard Garcia, Jason Godeke, Mary Rose Kaczorowski, Richard Mohr, Blanca Pena, Michelle Roberts and Scott Taubold. Incumbent Lindy Peters is running unopposed for the one open two-year seat on the council.

This excerpt of the candidate’s forum starts with opening statements, then answers to two of the three moderator questions, then closing statements. The moderator is Pat Dunbar of the League of Women Voters of Mendocino County.

Following opening statements, candidates answered three questions from the moderator. The first question was about Fort Bragg’s water supply and the ongoing drought. This excerpt starts with the second question about Housing in the city, followed by a question about the Skunk Train.

Following moderator questions, the candidates were given a number of topics from the audience and asked to briefly address one or more of them. These included: improving Business climate, vision for the mill site, public works, homelessness, and police relations with the Latino community. Then the candidates gave their closing statements.

Election Day is November 8.
