Operation Clean Sweep Discussion

Jul 17, 2019

July 16, 2019--Alicia Bales and Jenn Procacci host a special hour of public affairs programming on the Mendocino County Sheriffs Department’s announcement of  “Operation Clean Sweep,” a multi-agency law enforcement action aimed at eradicating unpermitted cannabis growing throughout the county. Guests include attorney Hanna Nelson and Monique Ramirez of Mendocino Cannabis Alliance and journalist Kate Maxwell of www.Mendovoice.com.

Many people say the Eel River is arguably the best opportunity for wild salmon recovery on the entire west coast. The river and salmon have weathered decades of overfishing, abusive logging, catastrophic floods and droughts, and a hydro-power project that diverts water out of the Eel River basin and into the Russian River. In 2014, the river ran dry for the first time in recorded history. Today, the Eel River’s recovering wild salmon compete for water with the region’s wine and cannabis industries.

You're under arrest! Those are words no one EVER wants to hear. Who's getting busted by the Sheriff and who's not under the county's new medical cannabis cultivation ordinance?
