Sonja Hutson is a politics and government reporter at KUER. She’s been reporting on politics ever since the 10th grade, when she went to so many school board meetings the district set up a press table for her. Before coming to Utah, Sonja spent four years at KQED in San Francisco where she covered everything from wildfires to the tech industry. When she’s not working, you can find her skiing, camping, or deeply invested in a 1000 piece puzzle.

Eddie Haehl was born-and-raised right here in Mendocino County. A musician and well-known community theatre artist, Eddie has performed in a variety of productions from Ukiah to Willits to Fort Bragg.

Sarah “Shanx” Shankman has lived all over Mendocino County since first visiting in 2007.

She has years of experience in community organizing, started working at KZYX&Z in 2022 as the Pledge Drive Assistant, and succeeded Renee Wilson in the Membership Director position in February 2023.

Often co-hosting The Discussion, Medium Heavy and more, Shanx is moving KZYX into the future.

A pioneer in community radio, Marty Durlin came to KZYX after serving as manager of KZMU in Moab UT. Her longest tenure was at KGNU in Boulder CO, where she helmed the station for more than 20 years, cofounded the Grassroots Radio Conference and served as chair of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, the Pacifica National Board, and the Rocky Mountain Community Radio Coalition.
