His daughter has a transplanted kidney, and he fears she will need another transplant in a few years.   • U.N. Security Council members, plus Germany, met Wednesday in London to try and reach agreement over how to approach Iran on its nuclear program. They failed to come to any comprehensive agreement, although there are signs that the European position may be moving closer to that of the U.S.
  • Sweden and Finland officially applied to join NATO, but Turkey's president may oppose their acceptance into the military alliance. There is an international push to resolve Turkey's objections.
