March 26, 2020--On today's daily update for Mendocino County's coronavirus response, Dr. Drew Colfax is joined by Dr. Suzanne Hiramatsu, Director of Emergency Medicine and Pacific Redwood Medical Group, which manages the emergency department at the Ukiah Adventist Hospital.
After a roundup of the latest coronavirus numbers--Mendocino County has not seen an increase beyond the two positive cases confirmed so far--Dr. Hiramatsu describes the urgent preparations underway at local hospitals to prepare for a surge of COVID-19 cases. She says local hospitals are looking to the experiences of communities in Washington State, the Bay Area, and New York City to make contingency plans, prepare for worst case scenarios, ready stocks of Personal Protective Equipment for providers, and get surge facilities in place for a potential wave of coronavirus cases locally.
