August 30, 2019 — A new school year has just gotten underway, and students at some local schools will have a chance to learn from a panel of Native American cultural educators, in an ongoing effort to fill out the understanding of California’s history and the expertise of local Native people. We’ll hear from Angela James, Vice Chair for the Pinoleville Pomo Nation, and Zhao Qiu, the project director for the Pomo Youth College and Career Success Project, about the inspiration to bring Native perspectives into the curriculum of the Ukiah Unified School District.
