CASA: connecting with children who need help

At 15 percent, the incidence of child abuse in Mendocino County is twice that of California's. These children and others who are victims of broken families, substance abuse, violence and other traumas, need assistance to navigate the courts. CASA -- the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children program -- aims to provide it.  We speak with CASA executive director Sheryn Hildebrand, about the increasing numbers of kids -- some five hundred in Mendocino and Lake Counties --who need help. For more information about the Ukiah-based CASA program, call 707-463-6503 or visit mendocinocasa.org.
