PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING 3-5-2019

The meeting focuse primarily on setting up an all-day event on Satruday, October 19, 2019, to celebrate the station's 30th Anniversary.  Pooba is an event organizeer from Willits and came to speak with us for the first time.  He came with ideas for kinds of events, a schedule, and knowing people who can provide most of the activities needed.  

An initial schedule we agreed to is:

• 10-11am      the second hour of the Jimmy Humble program live (the first hour can be pre-recorded)
• 11-1               Trading Time show live at the event.  People can bring things for it or call in.
• 1-3                Latin music, perhpas by Alma Latina (?)
• 3-6               ?  maybe music for the younger crowd
• 6-10              Two bands.  E.g., Roy Rogers, Hot Butter Run, The Sometimes, etc.

We also agreed to attempt to hold the festivities at the Recreation Grove Park in Willits.  It is outdoors, has a bandstand, and is central in the county.  Our main concern would be the weather (if it rains or is cold).
Pooba stated that he was pretty sure that he can get both a Latin music band and two good bands for the evening.  He also stated that he has a sound man, a lights man, and a woman who can coordinate getting food tents and trucks.  

The committee also briefly discussed the strategic plan and the possible grant for it, and the possibility of working with the local college to create a studio for students (and at times for us) at the college.  We also briefly discussed a couple of events before the Oct 19 event.
