August 22, 2019 — The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors agreed unanimously to change the county ordinance to establish the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples' Day in Mendocino County. Representatives from Guidiville, Cahto, Coyote Valley, Sherwood Valley, Round Valley, Hopland, Little River and Pinoleville expressed their approval of what they hope is a first step in the right direction.

We’ll hear from Lois Lockhart and Buffy Wright, of the Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo Indians, Debra Ramirez, Chair of the Little River Band of Pomo Indians in Redwood Valley, Ada Stevenson of the Cahto Tribe of the Laytonville Rancheria, Reverend Michelle Robins of the Ukiah United Methodist Church, and Priscilla Hunter, an elder of the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians, about what this proclamation means to them and how they hope it will contribute to a meaningful reconciliation between communities.
