February 12, 2019 — The Little Lake Grange hosted a Black History Month celebration on Saturday, with poetry, dance, music, visual art, entrepreneurship, food, and, of course, history. We’ll hear from organizers and activists, artists, and a young entrepreneur in this story about local families hoping to kick off a cultural movement of appreciation for Black history, which is, as organizer Jocelyn Ffriend points out, American history.
In the web version, we get a bonus track: Ffriend and multi-talented artist Carla Starla leading a rendition of James Weldon Johnson's poem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," which is also known as the Black National Anthem.
