Art Explorers will present HERE WE ARE: Disability Pride in California, a group exhibition featuring artwork from progressive art studios across the state. Throughout the month, the studio will also host presentations and talks by artists and advocates to increase visibility and awareness within our community. The exhibition will culminate in a closing party on July 24th from 4 – 7pm, with a special guest speaker followed by a dance party at the Art Explorers studio. Here is a list of our programming:
Friday, July 3First Friday Open Studio, 5 – 7pmFeaturing the Art Explorers Puppet Parade at 6pm.
Friday, July 17: Disabilities Services panel, 2 – 3:30pmJoin us to hear about all the other nonprofits and disability services organizations in Mendocino County. We will have short presentations from Parents and Friends, MATCH, Circle of Horses, Compass, UVAH and the Redwood Coast Regional Center, and a Q & A session afterwards. This is a great way to learn about what is being offered in our county.
Friday, July 24: “Conversations for a Kinder World: How Your Voice Can Inspire Change,” 4 – 5pmA Zoom presentation by human rights advocate Nicole Adler, nicoleforlove.comThe closing reception and dance party for HERE WE ARE will follow from 5 – 7pm.
Travel back in time and down the aisle at the Kelley House Museum during “Tying the Knot: Bridal Fashion Unveiled.” Featuring archival photographs, artwork, and historic wedding dresses worn by Mendocino brides from the mid-1860s to 1914, this exhibit showcases evolving trends in bridal styles: from a woman’s “Sunday best” dress to sequins and lace, from bright colors to pure white. You’ll even learn about a few Mendocino love stories along the way. Exhibit runs June 4, 2026 – August 31, 2026. Hours: Thursday – Monday, 11am – 3pmOpening reception: Saturday, June 13th, 4pm – 5:30pm
