Celebrated blues band Rick Estrin and the Nightcats will close Blues on the Coast 2026 at Arena Theater on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
Led by blues vocalist, harmonica master and award-winning songwriter Rick Estrin, the band is known for their musicianship, clever songwriting and an electrifying live show. Estrin’s harmonica playing draws on blues legends such as Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter Jacobs while pushing the tradition forward. The Nightcats are guitarist and producer Kid Andersen, bassist Lorenzo Farrell and drummer Derrick “D’Mar” Martin.
Winners of the 2018 Blues Music Award for Band of the Year, Rick Estrin and the Nightcats will perform songs from their latest album, “The Hits Keep Coming,” a critically acclaimed collection of modern blues, infectious grooves and lyrics ranging from serious to humorous.
“Rick Estrin, who has been called a combination of jive-talking carnival side-show hustler and world class musician is the most colorful and entertaining showman around, dressed in forties hipster-style sharkskin suits, white shoes, and hair in a pompadour,” wrote Forbes magazine.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets for the show are $35, available online at arenatheater.org or at the door.
