Potter Valley Tribe Biochar Demonstration

Potter Valley Tribe Biochar Demonstration

Potter Valley Tribe Biochar Demonstration:
Where: 12100 Michael Court, Potter Valley, CA 95469
(Across from the PV High School, up driveway & left at end)
When: Saturday, March 28, 2026 9 am to 4 pm

The Potter Valley Tribe Environmental Office will be demonstrating a new technology to manage prunings, wood from tree or vine removal or forest thinning projects, or any clean woody biomass at this workshop. Along with experts and the staff, we will do a biochar burn to show how to sequester carbon and manage woody waste using clean-burning kilns sized for homeowner to ranch managers. Although this is an ancient method, it has been modernized to a new technology. Benefits include:

• Air quality improvements: Low smoke; visible results compared to other burning methods.
• Wildfire Hazard Reduction: Safely eliminate hazardous surface fuels from your property.
• Long-Term Carbon Storage: Keep carbon in the ecosystem and out of the atmosphere to help mitigate climate change.
• Enhanced Soil Fertility: Enrich your soil to retain more water, supply more nutrients, and boost plant productivity.
