"Jacomena Maybeck: From Ukiah's Western Hills to the Berkeley Hills": A conversation with author Pam Valois about "Blooming in Winter"

Pam Valois, author of "Blooming in Winter: The Story of a Remarkable Twentieth-Century Woman," will be interviewed by her Ukiah-based friend, Susan Kanaan, about the long and fascinating life of Jacomena Maybeck. Jackie grew up on Pine Ridge Road, west of Ukiah, in a family of Dutch immigrants. There she met her future husband, the son of the famous Bay Area architect, Bernard Maybeck. Pam will talk about what life was like on rugged and remote Pine Ridge Road in the 1910s and 20s; how it felt to join the famous Maybeck family and ultimately be the steward of his iconic homes in the Berkeley hills; and what we can learn from her about blooming through all of life's seasons. Books will be available for sale, to benefit the Museum, and there will be time for audience participation. (Reminder: Daylight Savings ENDS on November 6!)
