Benefit for Mendocino County Public Broadcasting - KZYX

Robbie Fulks is a Grammy nominated, chart topping musician, performing for the first time in Mendocino County. His Hollywood Bowl debut included Steve Martin and Alison Brown, both premier musicians, and both Grammy winners. He has shared the stage and collaborated with other stellar artists including Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Linda Gail Lewis, Alison Brown, Lucinda Williams, Sierra Hull, Ronnie McCoury, Tim OBrien, John Cowan, Stuart Duncan. Missy Raines, Martin Short and Tina Fey. Robbie used to teach at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, and Tina Fey, who was then a member of the Second City comedy troupe, enrolled as one of this students in his Saturday-morning Guitar 1 for beginners.

While attending Columbia University, Fulks frequented the coffee houses and clubs of Greenwich Village, following the path of many Folk musicians of the 1960's. Variety magazine calls Robbie Fulks one of Americas Great Singer-Songwriters. Fulks is not fond of the term 'Americana'. In a recent interview he asked, "whats James Brown, if not Americana? but that somehow wasnt included in the...( definition).

Fulks is celebrated as one of America's great song craftsmen, known for his wit and masterful lyricism that can be both funny and profoundly moving. His concerts emphasize his dynamic stage presence, his ability to connect with audiences, and the entertaining blend of serious performance with sharp, funny banter.
