Ukiah Deputy City Manager Shannon Riley said the Planning Commission would make a decision about annexation at some indeterminate future date

Ukiah’s Planning Commission has postponed further consideration of a proposed annexation and reorganization plan involving pre-zoning of affected parcels. According to Deputy City Manager Shannon Riley, the item was initially continued to a date certain following significant public comment at a June 11 meeting. However, city staff have since decided to delay the hearing indefinitely to allow more time to gather information and address outstanding questions from both the commission and the public. A new hearing date has not been set.

In other action, the Ukiah City Council on Wednesday approved and adopted a $147 million budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Roughly sixty percent of the budget is funded from charges for services including electric service, water, and wastewater. Taxes provide the second biggest revenue source, roughly 18 percent, with the biggest chunk coming from sales tax. Also, the council approved a demolition permit for 214 East Perkins Street and the purchase of two new fire trucks.
