Kailand Ignacio Garcia, a 19 year old from Fort Bragg has been charged with the killing of Alyson Sanchezllanes on January 17th. Seventeen year old Sanchezllanes died of a fentanyl overdose.
According to a criminal complaint filed last month on Election Day, Garcia "willfully and unlawfully" did an act or acts that resulted in the poisoning of Sanchezllanes. Garcia is charged with murder in the second degree, and unlawful possession for sale of a controlled substance.
Garcia pled not guilty, his attorney Justin Peterson confirmed. “The next step would be a preliminary hearing on January 27 to determine if there’s sufficient evidence to hold him for trial,” Peterson said. A court date on January 21 will address whether both sides have exchanged necessary information.
In a related case, 18-year-old Elohi Triplett of Fort Bragg has been charged with unlawful possession of fentanyl and cocaine for sale, as well as weapon offenses, including converting a firearm into a machine gun. Triplett’s arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, more than a month after his arrest by the Mendocino Task Force.
Police Search for Missing Fort Bragg Teenager
The search continues for Roy Mora, a 15-year-old transgender teen, who disappeared Saturday night while heading to the lighted truck parade in downtown Fort Bragg.
Police Chief Neil Cervenka provided updates at a city council meeting, debunking rumors of an abduction involving a tan van and confirming multiple sightings of Mora walking alone after the alleged incident.
The Mendocino County Search and Rescue team, with canine tracking units, conducted searches on Tuesday while the Coast Guard deployed a helicopter on Monday. Community volunteers eager to assist have been asked to wait until professionals complete initial searches to avoid disrupting tracking efforts.
Mora remains missing as of Tuesday night, with police working closely with family, friends, and school officials to gather information.
