Spring planting season has arrived, and communities around the county will be celebrating Earth Day. But small organic farmers complain that it’s difficult to get financial assistance for regenerative practices that don’t necessarily result in a large cash crop.
On Tuesday night, the League of Women Voters held a panel discussion about sustainable agriculture on the coast. Speakers discussed farming techniques to alleviate climate change and support pollinators, a collaboration between the Fort Bragg school district and the Noyo Food Forest, and a project to use seeds that are evolved to the local environment.
