The Ukiah City Council voted unanimously to accept a staff recommendation to distribute opioid settlement funds “toward the development and enhancement of substance abuse treatment facilities within city limits,” according to a report prepared by Deputy City Manager Shannon Riley.
The city is slated to receive a little under half a million dollars in opioid settlement funds for the next 18 years, which comes out to about $27,000 annually. Mendocino County has the highest rate of overdose deaths per capita in the state, and there is a heavy concentration of substance disorder services in the city of Ukiah.
