Spanish language newspaper celebrates 12 years

December 02, 2022 — The Spanish-language newspaper Al Punto celebrates twelve years serving the community with information in Mendocino County and surrounding areas.
Al Punto has a circulation of 5 to 10 thousand copies and is distributed in Mendocino County and parts of Lake county and Cloverdale in Sonoma County.
For 12 years, Al Punto has been the source of vital information in Spanish during events such as forest fires, power outages and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Al Punto has also become an organizer of events for the Latino community like the Children's Day and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Local News
Victor Palomino came to KZYX-Z after working in community radio stations in North Carolina and Kentucky. Originally from Colombia, Victor understands the ways that community radio stations can amplify the voices of underrepresented communities and diversify community media. He was the Programming Director and Station Manager for RadioLex in Lexington KY, a bilingual community radio station where he created the foundation for Spanish language news coverage. He joined KZYX in June 2022 as Bilingual News Director, left briefly to work at Radio Bilingue in Fresno, and returned to Mendocino County as the KZYX Public Affairs Director, working with 36 program hosts who cover everything from marine ecology to local politics. He is also the bilingual reporter for the KZYX News.
