Diane Hering served as General Manager of KZYX for three years, then came back four years later to run the membership department for about a decade. She was upbeat and determined, known as a fair and open-hearted person no matter what her official position. She also hosted a bluegrass music program on KZYX, Lunch on the Back Porch, for some 20 years, and played bass and sang in local bands. She was the prime mover behind the Wild Iris Folk Festival, which took place in the fairgrounds in Boonville from 1995 to 2008. She died May 24 in Ukiah, and spent most of her last three years in Mendo Dragon, an intentional community in Boonville. She will be missed.
