Sobering Statistics and a New Hospitalization: Local Coronavirus Update 5-25

May 25, 2020--Dr. Drew Colfax gives some sobering statistics for Memorial Day Weekend, as the national death toll from COVID-19 reaches almost 100,000 Americans. Coming off of several shifts at the ER in Ukiah, he reports that at least one new positive COVID-19 patient was admitted to the hospital this weekend, with the source of transmission still unknown pending contact tracing investigation. This case was announced by Public Health later in the day as case #22 in Mendocino County. It wasn't all doom and gloom, he also discussed bright spots like increased testing capability in the county and hopeful news about the vulnerability of the virus to summer sunlight.
