July 19, 2019 -- Operation Clean Sweep, a cannabis eradication effort focused on the Eel River watershed, started on Monday and resulted in the destruction of 10,000 plants. So far, some cannabis activists are cautiously optimistic about how the operation is going. KZYX spoke to Undersheriff Matt Kendall and long-time cannabis attorney and member of the Mendocino Cannabis Alliance Hannah Nelson to get their perspective on Operation Clean Sweep -- and what it means for the relationship between law enforcement and the cannabis community.
