Oct 22, 2018 — The Eel River Recovery Project celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act in Covelo on Saturday. That act preserves certain rivers or sections of rivers in a free-flowing condition. It also protects the immediate environment of the waterways, so in the morning, about a dozen people gathered in the tribal health center for a workshop on forest health. Upper Lake/Covelo District Ranger Frank Aebly gave a presentation on rehabilitating burned areas after the Ranch Fire.
We’ll hear Aebly talk about the extent of the damage, what’s worked, and what’s next.
