The Mushroom Cure: The Acclaimed One-Man Show at Matheson Hall
On Sunday, November 15, at 7:00 PM, Adam will perform his solo show
The Mushroom Cure: The Acclaimed One-Man Show at Matheson Hall.
Weaving comedy, personal narrative, and cultural observation, The Cosmic Laugh s an evolving performance about psychedelic experience, mental health, and the tension between vulnerability and self-protection. Moving through fragmentation, integration, and the ongoing attempt to make sense of it all, Adam Strauss explores what happens when profound cosmic insight collides with the realization that you still have to pay rent. The New York Times says he "mines a great deal of laughter from disabling pain.”
Strauss is best known for The Mushroom Cure, the solo show he wrote and
performs about one man’s quest to cure his obsessive-compulsive disorder with
psychedelics. The show has played coast to coast and at international venues. It
won the Overall Excellence Award at the New York International Fringe Festival and Best Solo Show at the Eddy Awards for Bay Area Theater. Author Michael Pollan has called it “brilliant, hilarious, and moving.” The show was developed and directed by Jonathan Libman.
