On Wednesday, July 16, at 6 PM, we invite you to gather in the museum and consider planetary returns, the cosmos, and an astrological reading of Fort Bragg\’s iconic redwood round\’s death chart. Artist and astrologer Debra Stapleton will lead us through the reading, followed by an atmospheric discussion and an experimental art-making session that will explore how to represent the reading on the fabric round visually.

The Death Chart Reading will explore the forces at play when the tree was felled — the broader generational forces shaping the times (1943) and more specific ones to the moment (April 18). Stapleton will explore how these came together to give us the symbolic outlines of the tree’s death.
