Charlie Schneider and Justin Smith on the Fish of the Eel and Russian Rivers: What Changes Mean for Salmon and Steelhead
Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at 7PM - Ukiah City Council Chambers

How will a changing climate and shifts in water management affect fish, wildlife, and communities in the Russian and Eel River watersheds? In this two-part Peregrine Audubon Society program, Charlie Schneider of California Trout and Justin Smith of Sonoma Water will discuss the fish of the Eel and Russian Rivers: their life cycles, current status, and likely responses to dam removal, continued diversion, and a changing climate. They’ll also address common questions and misconceptions about Eel River dam removal and the proposed enlargement of Coyote Valley Dam.
