At the Brink: Vanishing Trees & Climate Change
At the Brink: Vanishing Trees & Climate Change
If you are concerned about the condition of our coastal forest, you won’t want to miss At the Brink: Vanishing Trees & Climate Change, a special free public event on December 2nd from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mendocino’s Stanford Inn.
Humboldt author Greg King, who helped initiate the “redwood wars” after Maxxam’s notorious 1985 takeover of the Pacific Lumber Company in Humboldt County, will discuss his brand new book, The Ghost Forest: Racists, Radicals, and Real Estate in the California Redwoods. Joining him will be John O’Brien, a local resident climate scientist & research affiliate with the Climate & Ecosystem Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who will present a quantitative overview of our forest resources and management practices, with an emphasis on the redwood region and Jackson State Demonstration Forest.
Seating is limited. Reservations are required. For more information, call 937-0549 and leave a message.
