Youth coalition getting high school students involved in local politics

With the election season in full swing, special interest groups are grilling candidates to find out whose platform most aligns with their membership. Voters are working hard to educate themselves, checking out contenders’ financial backers and looking into their records in public service so they can make the best possible decision.

But one policy group won’t be casting ballots on March fifth. Bode Gower is the teenaged chair of the new Northern California Youth Policy Coalition. He’s focused on making connections with candidates in state and local races, to make sure they’re thinking about how their decisions will affect young people. He says the main issue for youth is affordability: how will they afford the necessities of life when they come back to their rural communities after college?

TUne in to hear him talk about the Coalition, what he hopes to accomplish, and the future of youth involvement in local politics.
