Change in Election of KZYBoard Members

Important Membershihp Meeting

September 26, 2018, 6PM

about Changing the Elections of Board Members

The KZYX Board of Directors is holding a membership meeting to present and discuss a proposed change in how KZYX elects its Board of Directors.

The Board meeting to introduce this change will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, at 6PM, in the Rural Communities Housing Development office.  That’s just behind the Ukiah Senior Center at 499 Leslie Street in Ukiah.

The Board is recommending that, beginning next year, elections for directors should be held every two years instead of every year.  That is, we will not hold elections in the Spring of 2019, but in 2020, 2022, and so on.

The reasons for this include:

·      Our budget is suffering.  Each election costs us about $2,500 in mailing costs and about the same in additional staff time.

·      The staff is already very lean and this takes away from them performing their other duties every year.  This would give the staff some relief.

·      Each election also costs us several hundred hours of volunteer time which could be put to better use.

·      Our last election has led to us having the most active and involved KZYX Board in many years. This would be a perfect time to make such a change.

Ballots will be sent in the mail to all KZYX members in early October to vote on the change.  The ballots are due back by October 31st

Please join us at that board meeting to learn about it and return your ballot by October 31st.
