March 23rd Billy Jones - 3's A Crowd

Billy Jones is a jazz drummer from Philadelphia. His latest album 3’s A Crowd consists of ten duets with ten different instruments. The music is both improvised and written out and Jones used different sticks and techniques in every track to match not only the sound of the instrument, but the nature of the musical relationship. The challenge was to raise the drums from its role of accompaniment to that of partner. Communication and empathy create the thread from track to track.
