October 21, 2019 — Housing has a profound effect on health outcomes, as Elizabeth Elliott, the occupancy manager at Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority, knows well. Northern Circle is a tribally designated housing entity, founded in 1978 to provide safe and equitable housing to tribal communities. Elliott is especially interested in how having a secure place to live cuts down on ACEs, or adverse childhood experiences, giving kids a better chance at growing up to be healthy adults. Last week, she shared some of her views on the importance of good data, good housing, and making sure everyone gets counted.
