BoS Hears Measure B Update, Ponders Legal Advice

January 11, 2019 -- The Board of Supervisors heard an update from the Measure B citizens advisory committee, which is charged with making recommendations about how to spend money from a ballot initiative to raise taxes to fund mental health care. Outgoing Measure B committee chair Sheriff Tom Allman reported that about $3.8 million has come in so far. However, the committee is in a quandary about how to pay for legal advice: can Measure B funds be used for the purpose, or should the county use general funds to pay county counsel? And if the county hires outside counsel with expertise in the field of building mental health care facilities, which revenue stream would be appropriate?

You can listen in the deliberations here.
