March 5, 2018 -- Lucas Seymour, one of the co-founders of cannabis distribution company Old Kai Logistics, will begin serving a brief jail sentence at the end of this week. In December, the California Highway Patrol cited an Old Kai driver for possession and transport of marijuana for sale. The truck and 1800 pounds of cannabis were seized and made their way into the hands of the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force.

State permits were not available at the time, but Old Kai got its county permit three days before the incident.

Seymour was on probation for a marijuana charge that the district attorney’s office reduced to a misdemeanor after he paid restitution. He was also supposed to perform 200 hours of community service, which he did not do. On March 2, District attorney David Eyster asked Judge John Benhke to double the hours or impose jail time. Seymour talked about his decision a few minutes after hearing the sentence.
