Humboldt County supervisors are keeping a wary eye on developments as the Potter Valley Project evolved slowly into the Eel Russian River Facility. With PG&E planning to remove the dams that once generated hydropower, a coalition of interest is assembling to continue a seasonal diversion from the Eel River into the Russian River. The plan has not come before regulators, but the coalition hopes that PG&E will include it as an alternative when it does present a plan for decommission next year. Daniel Mintz, of KMUD news, reports that the Humboldt County supervisors formed an ad hoc committee to keep track of the county’s interests as the plan develops.
