We are all connected

In times of crisis or emergency, KZYX’s primary mission is to provide crucial, up-to-date information. That includes global, national, regional and local reports. It includes interviews with county officials and experts along with call-ins, so listeners have direct access to decision makers and elected representatives. During this particular crisis, we’re also doing our part to keep staff and volunteers safe, to reduce risk of community spread of COVID-19, and keep our listeners — many confined to their homes — entertained, maybe even comforted.

Currently you can hear updates from Ukiah ER physician Dr. Drew Colfax and other health workers every week day at 3 pm, as well as interviews with supervisors, live broadcasts of county press briefings, and announcements by Mendocino County Public Health Officer Dr. Noemi Doohan. Our local news can be heard Monday-Friday at 7:45 and 8:45 am, and at 6 pm.

In addition, our local programmers are providing diverse music, comedy and storytelling, as well as public affairs shows from a variety of viewpoints. These programs are all presented by your neighbors, and they give KZYX its distinct Mendocino County character.

Unfortunately, the KZYX offices are temporarily closed to the public. Many volunteer programmers are sending us programs they produce at home, and others are using strict protocols for entering and cleaning our studios.

We have postponed our Spring Fundraising Drive indefinitely. That means we have some catching up to do, to raise the funds necessary to sustain programming over the coming months. One of the best ways to support KZYX is to make a contribution at kzyx.org, or send to PO Box 1, Philo CA 95466. Please encourage your circle of friends, family and colleagues to tune into, and support, the important services that we provide every day. Thank you for all you do to help this station thrive and shine through these uncertain times.

We'll continue to keep you posted as the situation evolves.  Please check kzyx.org for regular updates. And don’t forget, all our news stories and special programming are archived on our website, kzyx.org.

We greatly appreciate the dedication, determination, willingness, generosity and flexibility that our volunteers, underwriters and community members have shown to KZYX.

Although we are practicing social distancing, we are all truly connected through the airwaves. We are grateful for the support and inspiration you give us every day. We know we can get through this, together.
