September 3, 2019 — Yesterday’s Labor Day picnic in Todd Grove Park was an illustration of the ongoing struggle of labor. Representatives of SEIU 1021, the main bargaining collective for county workers, expressed gratitude for the recent hard-won three-year contract, while caregivers with In Home Supportive Services, represented by SEIU 2015, are still fighting for $15 an hour.
We’ll hear from union reps, Democratic organizers, and Senator Mike McGuire on progressive successes, both hoped-for and recently won.
