PD Blog: Aspiring KZYX DJs Take to the Mic in Fort Bragg!

Oct 2, 2019

On Saturday, September 21st, a dozen new and returning KZYX DJs joined staff members Rich, Jake, and Alicia at the Redwood Senior Center in Fort Bragg for a community radio orientation and training. The free workshop included an introduction to community radio, an interactive presentation about producing public affairs shows, and an overview about what makes a great music program, as well as hands-on training on the remote studio sound board. Many participants tried out their radio voices to record station IDs and underwriting spots that will run on KZYX over the next few months. Best of all, several of the trainees submitted program proposals for new music and public affairs shows, and a few signed up to get more training to become engineers.

KZYX will offer New Programmer Orientation workshops quarterly in locations throughout the county. The next one is scheduled for Saturday, January 25th in Ukiah at the County Library on Main Street, 1-5Pm. If you would like more information, or to register, please call Alicia at 707-895-2324 or email pd@kzyx.org

Thank you!
