Oak & Thorn presents RUNA
Friday, January 18, 2019 at Eagles Hall, Fort Bragg; doors open 6:30 pm. Benefit for KZYX. Information: 734-0791 or email@example.com
RUNA has been pushing the boundaries of Irish folk music into the Americana and roots music formats. Interweaving the haunting melodies and exuberant tunes of Ireland and Scotland with the lush harmonies and intoxicating rhythms of jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and blues, they offer a thrilling and redefining take on traditional music. Their live performances are engaging, as they bring the audience into the songs and tunes; all you folks who love to sing along, this is your band!
The group has been honored internationally, winning Top Group and Top Traditional Group in the Irish Music Awards and four Independent Music Awards including Best Live Album, Best World/Traditional Song and Best Bluegrass Song. They are becoming "kind of a big deal" on the folk music scene, and we are really thrilled to get them here again.
They played here two years ago - on Inauguration Day, so a lot of you may have missed their wonderful performance. Their infectious enthusiasm raised everyone's spirits that night! Now they have a new CD coming out, two new band members, and the same high-energy innovative approach to Celtic roots music that has created so many RUNAtics. It's going to be another fantastic night at Eagles Hall and I hope you will be there with us.
KZYX will serve homebrewed beer, cider, and Parducci Cellars wines, as well as coffee and tea.
