Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Approved in Ukiah

In one of the latest developments of cannabis news in Mendocino County, the Ukiah City Council Wednesday night unanimously voted to adopt an ordinance to allow the regulation of medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits. During public comment, semi-retired physician Dr. Robert Werra discussed a petition he said was signed by more than 40 local physicians who are opposed to a dispensary in the city.  Over the past few months, public hearings have been held on the issue and many local citizens have expressed both opposition and support of a regulated cannabis dispensary in Ukiah.

Before adopting the final version of the ordinance on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, the council and city staff also addressed the stringency of the ordinance and pointed out there are many safeguards built into it that include annual permit renewal requirements and 22 pages of rules on ages of employees, hours of operation, a security plan, and many more strict regulations.
