Don't Get Complacent: Mendo Coronavirus Update 4-6

KZYX
Dr. Drew Colfax

April 6, 2020--The numbers of cases of coronavirus are continuing to rise across the country, but in Mendocino County totals remain the same. There have been four confirmed COVID-19 cases here and no hospitalizations, while testing is ongoing in a relatively tiny percentage of the population.

Today there was news that the virus can be contracted by felines, but Dr. Colfax assures listeners it is an exceedinly rare situation. He is concerned that with the low numbers of positive cases in the county, there is a risk of people getting complacent. But he is cautiously optimistic that the stay at home measures are working, and we should keep it up!

Dr. Colfax reports that current modeling puts California's peak in early May, meaning several more weeks at least of sheltering in place, but anticipates that we won't really recognize our peak until we are through it.
